About the President

Peter Phoeng was born and raised in the United States, but his heart and soul breathes for Cambodia. He moved to Cambodia in 2004 to extend his family’s business and to give back to the country of his ancestors. Peter owns Angkor Pearl Hotel in Siem Reap, which was awarded Best Bargain Hotel by TripAdvisor 6 consecutive years,  and continues to win awards each year. He has taught English and Hospitality classes in his neighborhood in order to enhance the skills of his Khmer brothers and sisters.  In the last few years, Peter found a passion in photography and honed his craft to a professional level. Peter volunteers his time teaching photography and editing skills to those who are eager to learn. Since coming to Cambodia, Peter has helped organize and participated in many community service activities, including: Clean Up Cambodia – Siem Reap, Clean Up Cambodia – Phnom Penh, The Help Portrait Project, and Christmas at the YMCA. Peter not only wants to bring awareness to the major issues of Cambodia, but wants to be part of the solution to these issues.

“I came to Cambodia to give back and help as much as I can as a Cambodian. I have spent most of my time dedicated to teaching my skills and honoring my parents and ancestors with my return. I hope to continue that work to the best of my abilities.” -Peter Phoeng.

About Us

Khmer Loves Khmer is a movement dedicated to holistic, socio-economic development in Cambodia. We encourage community members and volunteers from around the world to partner with communities in Cambodia to see dreams realized and lives transformed.

Volunteers serve alongside communities to help people work together in interdependency, taking charge of their situations and moving towards a more empowered and satisfying life as individuals and community.

Khmer Loves Khmer is dedicated to creating long term partnerships in Cambodia to catalyze the development process of underserved and underdeveloped communities. Our strategy for mobilizing volunteers is based on a careful assessment that evaluates community needs and plans for sustainability.

Khmer Loves Khmer then encourages volunteers to use their vocations and skills to engage communities to help them overcome challenges while developing meaningful relationships. Khmer Loves Khmer is based in Cambodia in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and has partners in California, US.
